In preparation for our 4th Quarter Arts Integrated Geography Unit, the students at Disney II will be starting a Flat Stanley project. Flat Stanley is a book about a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished “as flat as a pancake” when a bulletin board falls on him while he is asleep. Stanley is flat, but otherwise fine. Stanley’s family sends him to visit a friend in California. What is amazing is that “Flat Stanley” gets mailed in an envelope! This is a cheaper alternative to paying for airfare! The story goes on to tell how Stanley discovers come real advantages to being flat. We would like to do the same with our “Flat Stanley”. Every child, in all grade levels, will send Flat Stanley to a friend, relative, or public official. Stanley can be mailed within Chicago, Illinois, United States, or around the world! If you would like to take “Flat Stanley” with you on spring vacation you certainly can! Let’s see how many places Stanley can visit!
